Pete Whitman

Music Director and saxophonist Pete Whitman has taught saxophone, improvisation, and arranging at McNally Smith College of Music for over 18 years, and directs the McNally Smith Jazz Orchestra. He is currently teaching at St. Olaf College, the University of Wisconsin at River Falls, and Minnesota State University-Mankato. Pete is a graduate of the renowned jazz program at North Texas State and also played with the Glen Miller Orchestra.

He has been performing with the JazzMN Orchestra since it was founded in 1998. A busy freelance artist, Pete has also performed with the Minneapolis-based fusion group Mississippi, Kevin Washington’s RA Spirit, Ginger Commodore, Bruce Henry, The Horn Heads, Connie Evingson, Andrew Walesch, the Minnesota Orchestra, and many others.
